Thank you so much for attending our very first event, An Evening with Former Ambassador to Ukraine William Taylor, held on April 7 at Oakland University. We were honored to launch the Southeast Michigan World Affairs Council (SEMIWAC) with such a powerful and timely discussion on the war in Ukraine.
We look forward to continuing the momentum with our next lecture series event, Understanding Afghanistan Today, on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at 7:00 PM at Oakland University in Rochester Hills, Michigan. This event will feature Ms. Khris Nedam, director and founder of Kids4AfghanKids, and Mr. Scott Worden, former director of Afghanistan and Central Asia Programs at the U.S. Institute of Peace. Together, they will share their deep knowledge and personal experiences on the evolving situation in Afghanistan.

Former Ambassador to Ukraine
William Taylor

Having recently marked the third anniversary of the war in Ukraine, and with discussions about a path toward a peace.

This important and timely lecture will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, April 7, 2025, in the Oakland Center’s Ballroom A on Oakland University’s main campus – 312 Meadow Brook Road, Rochester, MI 48309-4454.

Ambassador Taylor’s visit will mark the first lecture for the newly formed Southeast Michigan World Affairs Council, and OU is delighted to partner with the council for this important speaker series.
